Today I finally pushed the button on a long overdue name change for The Lichfield Blog.
It’s now called Lichfield Live.
It’s a big change, especially having built up a following over the past two and a half years. But for nearly all the time we’ve been going we’ve talked about a name change.
For ages, I personally blocked any name change saying it was too risky, potentially losing the reputation we had built up. It was however hard to escape the fact that having “blog” in our name was causing problems with how we were perceived.
So after much deliberation we made the tough decision to change name. Back in February we asked a group of our closest supporters and contributors to help us come up with something new. It took a while but on March 29 we finally decided on Lichfield Live.
“Lichfield Live” is more suitable for several reasons;
- It sounds new. We’re very much a “new media” operation.
- It sounds timely. We’ve built a reputation for being first to have the news about what’s going on in Lichfield.
- It fits with what’s on. Our most popular section is “What’s On” and nicely ties into events.
One thing was clear all along in this process – we didn’t want to lose The Lichfield Blog as a brand so we’re going to do something very special with that.
We pride ourselves on leaving the comment and opinion to our readers but we also know there is space for some good, well-written comment pieces. So, we’ll be turning The Lichfield Blog into a brand new web site providing comment and opinion pieces from specially selected “columnists” who live in, work in or represent Lichfield.
That’s not all. For almost all of our two and a half years we’ve covered Lichfield District – that’s the City of Lichfield, Burntwood, Chasetown and surrounding villages. We understand that Burntwood has it’s own identity and it’s own going’s on.
So, very soon, we’ll be launching Burntwood.org. It’ll contain all the Burntwood & Chasetown news we have on Lichfield Live as well as extra items from two incredibly passionate Burntwood residents who have agreed to take the site on.
We’re very excited about this change and I hope you’ll continue to follow us as we grow
Looking forward to seeing + contributing to the Burntwood.org site – good luck & thanks to the perseverance of the 2 Burntwood residents – we look forward to a sharing & exchange of information & ideas – “to the future & beyondd!!!”
